Symbol of identity

The “Rocche di Romagna” logo is inspired by one of the most iconic and distinct elements of Romagna: the mosaic art tradition of Ravenna.

Some details of the logo recall the mosaic present in the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, one of the most extraordinary art forms of the Byzantine era. Built around 425 AD, the mausoleum is an indisputable masterpiece of mosaic art. Once inside, the square-shaped structure fades into a colorful haze that smoothen the edges and refines the outlines thanks to the light refracted on the tiles.

The golden and cobalt ornaments inspired the creation of the brand: a regal crown encircled by numerous diadems to symbolize unity despite the differences. The central role played by the noble Romagna Sangiovese DOC in the region’s wine scene is conveyed by its infinite nuances that – just like the pieces of a mosaic – bring out the denomination’s vibrant expressions.

The Band

The Rocche di Romagna logo will appear in the band wrapped around the bottle neck of participating labels. The specification of the «Sottozona» will be placed next to the logo: this ensures that the uniqueness of each label will not be blurred, but rather be enhanced by its adherence to the collective brand. This is an additional indication of a common purpose: to communicate the bond of the «Sottozona» of origin to the Romagna Sangiovese DOC.

Regulations also establish an alternative use of the Rocche di Romagna brand: placing the inscription of the brand, together with the specification of the «Sottozona», in the upper right section of the wine label.

Rocche di Romagna is the brand that unites the Romagna Sangiovese wines produced in the various «Sottozone». The brand helps in understanding the production processes of the «Sottozone», or sub-areas, and brings the consumer closer to an authentic experience of Romagna Sangiovese.
